March 27th, 2019: We reviewed Lent. God gave us FREE WILL to make choices. We focus on choices that help ourselves and others not hurt. The Ten Commandments are God's laws that help us love Him and others. As God's holy people, saints, we will pray for each other and share God's love. We will work on being first time listeners and praying before supper.
March 13th, 2019: The Holy Spirit will guide and help you. The Holy Spirit gives us gifts. The Saints are helpers that can pray for us. We are Saints that can help God's holy people.
February 27th, 2019: This week our big idea was SAYING YES TO GOD. Mary said YES. Noah said YES. We say YES. We also got the chance to watch the story of Noah Ark's (Donald Duck version from Fantasia 2000- you can find it on YouTube).
February 6th, 2019: Our lesson was on prayer this week. Praising God (praise prayers), asking God for help (supplication), and thanking God (Thanksgiving). Prayers can be short or long. In our minds or outloud. Read from a paper/memory or made up. If we mess up on our prayer or forget, the Holy Spirit fixes it up. God knows our hearts and what we need or hope for. He is overjoyed to hear from us. The Holy Trinity loves us and is present for us always. They are our family.
The kids wrote their own prayers.
January 23rd, 2019: We had a wonderful family night! We ate some delicious food, reviewed the past several months, and got the chance to play some games! (See pictures below)
January 16th, 2019: Jesus is a healer. He inspired Mother Theresa to share a smile, hold a hand, and pray for God's people in India. We can do the same to help God's people. Our big idea- don't be afraid for God loves you, helps you, and protects you.
1st Grade & our cereal donations that are going to the local food shelter
December 5th, 2018: Jesus, The Good Shepherd loves us, His sheep. He always cares for us and will find us if we are lost.
November 28th, 2018: God's Holy Family- Jesus, Mary and Joseph. Big idea- Advent is the 4 weeks we wait and prepare to welcome Jesus at Christmas.
November 14th, 2018: The Holy Trinity...3 Holy persons equal one awesome God. Father- creator and takes care of all of us. Son (Jesus)- teacher and savior of all of us. Holy Spirit- guides and helps us.
November 7th, 2018: We are all images of God. God creates us to care for everything and everyone.
October 24th, 2018: We give thanks for God's great gifts, especially His son Jesus! God thanks a lot!
October 10th, 2018: God made everything. All this creation is good. God knows and loves everyone!
October 3rd, 2018: This week we reviewed our Catholic prayers, as well as, the sign of the cross. We learned that God made the world, Jesus saved the world, and the Holy Spirit helps the world. Our big idea is; the Bible is God's book. It has two parts, old and new, before Jesus and after Jesus.
The 1st grade students made Holy Trinity clovers & decorated leaves.
